I am on a mission this week visiting our newest partner – a first for MHF in Ghana – Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital (MWCH) – Fistula Unit, in Mankessim in the central region of Ghana, West Africa.

We are working with our friends at Fistula Foundation who are supporting fistula treatment at MWCH-FU for 2024. MHF will consult with Mercy to plan, resource and implement a holistic care program, adding layers of patient identification and rehabilitation & reintegration.

Fistula treatment is not supported by the Ghanaian NHI, as with most if not all impacted countries worldwide.

A holistic care program allows for the best possible long-term outcomes for women and girls to re-enter full participation in their family and community.

Women and girls suffering from fistula are dependent on us all to support them in their incredible difficult journey, a journey most of them do not know exists or believe is totally out of their reach.

In its 10 years of existence, MWCH has always struggled to find the private funding for fistula treatment and has never had funds for rehabilitation & reintegration.

Based on what I have witness this week, I am certain that Mercy Fistula is a huge untapped, under-resourced passionate, caring and capable organization.

Let’s give them a Christmas gift of the funding they need for a holistic care program in 2024. You may click on the Ghana box inside the donation page.

All of us at Maternal Health Fund wish you a very joyous and happy holiday season.

Kind regards
